19 of the Russian's 21 victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev secured his initial title for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has had a challenging season, managing just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in especial - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-term coach Cervara.

Currently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial title after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court from that period of the previous year.

The win also signifies the Russian has won 21 victories at 21 distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my both daughters together, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his past six title deciders, including in that event earlier this year.

His defensive strategy and regular reactions on court had prompted some to question if his capacity to compete at the top level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and compete positively, backed up by an better service.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky opponent, winning four of the last five games to take the lead.

The pair swapped service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his initial professional title, gained dominance to create a decider.

Moutet saved four early-game chances in a tight deciding set before the champion won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner clinched the title with a point at the net, with his opponent failing to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
